Their brochure says “The Arizona Railway Museum located in Chandler, Arizona, is a community effort toward the acquisition, restoration, preservation and display of railway equipment, artifacts and mementos related to railways of the past. The museum displays locomotives, passenger cars and freight equipment.” I went to the museum during their Arizona Railway Day. On this day all of the cars including private cars were open to visitors and they had staff to tell you about each of the cars. They even pulled an Amtrak train into the yard. It was interesting to talk to one of the owners of a private car. The husband and wife team travel all around the country in their restored car to various train exhibitions. I learned that the cars have to be certified to be on an Amtrak line. They did an excellent job in restoring the car. The steam locomotive was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about steam engines and got to be a kid again and ring the bell and blow the whistle. All in all it was a great time and now I am a train enthusiast. If you are ever in Chandler AZ this is a great place to visit. To get to the museum exit the 202 and go south on Arizona Ave. The address is: 330 E. Ryan Rd., Chandler, Arizona They are open Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm Weekends Labor Day through Memorial Day(9/7/13 - 5/18/14).
